In general, people seem to be torn between the time-saving advantage offered by the “Daily” solution and the multi-faceted, time-consuming alternative represented by direct access to unfiltered information.
It has been said before that an over-abundance of tools is felt as a fragmenting influence in a MOOC. In a MOOC, as in life, that there are a multitude of information sources that are available to consume your finite attention.
The Daily is only one solution, so too are the gRSShopper filtered feeds for blog posts and announcements. I have decided to go with the OPML of all blogs, and do the filtering myself in Google Reader as I had a few problems with the gRSShopper aggregated feed.
The most important skill to develop to combat information overload is a marshalling of attention. I find the best way to do that is away from the screen in deep meditation!
How do you cope with the torrent of content?
